Position Overview: The Head of Engineering – MEP will be responsible for leading the design, detailed engineering of mechanical systems for renewable projects across India (& other SAARC countries), Middle East, CIS, and Africa. The scope of work includes HVAC, Fire Protection & Fire Alarm Systems (including Battery Energy Storage System-BESS fire strategies), EOT cranes for electrical PSS substations, BESS and renewable buildings. The role involves managing multidisciplinary engineering interfaces, ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery, and providing end-to-end support from pre-bid engineering, detailed design & engineering, vendor engineering to support operation team during construction, commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of Lead Engineers, Engineers, and draftspersons.
- Develop and implement engineering plans aligned with project requirements.
- Ensure efficient delegation and completion of tasks.
- Drive team performance to achieve organizational targets
2.Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical oversight on HVAC, FPS, EOT cranes, and related mechanical systems for renewable projects and industrial buildings.
- Oversee HVAC system design, including plant room sizing, load calculations, ventilation, pressure drops, equipment selection, and ducting layouts, etc.
- Supervise FPS engineering, covering hydraulic calculations, fire pump sizing, pressure drops, equipment selection, and layout designs for sprinklers, hydrants, and gas suppression systems.
- Specialised knowledge in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) fire protection and detection strategies due to the risk of thermal runaway.
- Ensure EOT crane and monorail hoist engineering meets technical and safety standards.
- Review and approve vendor engineering documents.
3.Project Management:
- Ensure project designs align with contractual specifications and mitigate risks in pre-bid engineering.
- Manage multi-discipline coordination, including Electrical and Civil/Structural teams.
- Oversee vendor documentation and secure timely client approvals for manufacturing clearance.
- Conduct technical reviews for equipment procurement and support techno-commercial decision-making.

4.Quality Assurance and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to international mechanical engineering standards (ASHRAE, ISHRAE, NFPA, NBC, etc.) and project specifications.
- Perform risk assessments and implement proactive solutions to mitigate project risks.
- Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring profitability.
- Conduct regular audits of design deliverables and vendor outputs.
5.Stakeholder and Team Collaboration:
- Facilitate communication with clients, consultants, and vendors to resolve issues and ensure project progress.
- Collaborate with project execution teams to address technical challenges and ensure seamless operations.
- Manage sub-consultants and coordinate engineering inputs from multiple agencies.
