Job Summary

The Teacher Support Programme (TSP) is the British Council Egypt’s well-established training and mentoring programme for newly qualified teachers. The TSP includes regular input, peer observations, and observations and lesson planning support from an experienced, trained mentor, and the teachers’ have reduced teaching hours for the duration of the TSP. Input and observations are organised around different teaching skills and the programme works to build teachers’ skills, confidence and independence. It is a fast-track professional development programme, with many teachers going on to doing a teaching Diploma soon after completing the TSP and there are now many TSP graduates in management positions around the British Council network

 

Role Purpose 

The role involves planning and delivering high-quality English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching to a diverse group of learners using various methods and channels. Additionally, it requires active participation in the Teacher Support Programme, which includes mentoring from Delta-qualified Teacher Mentors and attending INSETTs to enhance professional development.

This comprehensive approach ensures effective teaching and continuous improvement in instructional techniques.. 

 

Role Accountabilities: 

 

Teachers deliver high-quality English instruction, starting with 20 hours per week in the first year, increasing to 25 hours after completing the Teacher Support Programme (TSP). They monitor student progress, provide feedback, and tailor lessons to individual learning styles. Additionally, they contribute to course development, complete administrative tasks, and engage in professional growth to maintain high teaching standards.

Collaboration with the teaching team ensures continuous improvement in course materials and methodologies. Teachers undergo structured training in the initial months to refine their skills and uphold best practices in English Language Teaching (ELT). Their role includes safeguarding responsibilities, adhering to guidelines on child protection, diversity, anti-bribery, and health and safety standards to create a secure and ethical learning environment.
